Several Sundays throughout the summer, the Block Island Arts & Crafts Guild holds their Outdoor Markets at the Block Island Historical Society. Along with paintings and photography, guild members also have sculpture, jewelry, fabric arts, candles, and more for sale. There’s also the annual Block Island Arts and Artisans Festival, being held August 10-12 this year. This larger festival, held on the lawns of the Narragansett Inn, draws artisans from all around to display their beautiful paintings, pottery, jewelry, photography and other handmade pieces.

All shows are free and for all ages! For classical music fans, the Eastern Connecticut Symphony Orchestra comes to Champlin’s on August 15. A reception with mocktails, cocktails, and hors d’ oeuvres begin at 5:00 with the performance at 6:00pm.
For film lovers, there are options as well! For a more traditional cinema experience, be sure to check out the historic Empire Theatre for recently released Hollywood blockbusters. For a slightly unique movie viewing, head down to the Town Beach Pavilion for Soundwaves: Movies on the Beach, where visitors can enjoy the sound of the ocean with film classics from the past.
